We will use this wiki as both a communication and a collaboration tool.

COLLABORATION


1:00-1:45 Go over some basic information about Google Forms and spreadsheets.



1:45-3:30 Work on project. Edit your wiki page as needed during this time. Directions for the project:


Divide the class into 3 groups of 4. You will create a problem to solve. We will assume for the sake of this exercise, your students have a good grasp of the knowledge base necessary to problem solve.



Now what? What types of practical applications (problem solving) can you use with your students? You may want your students to form a company and create a product. What would be necessary for that? You may have them do field research to try and solve a local problem. What would they need to do? Any other types of problems you come up with within your group.


You will assign responsibilities for each teacher. As you work on solving the problem, each group will:


Create pages for their group.


You could include Internet research (using the link feature in the wiki to link to a website)


Pictures (uploading materials)-setting up and running an experiment (post results via picutres)

Blogs or the discussion board section of each page. (For asking questions or gathering thoughts from the students)

Google Forms to gather data from others, etc. You can create the survey in Google Forms and then, using the "insert link" freature, insert into this wiki. (Remember, if you insert a Google Form into wikispaces, the window will close when you click "Submit".)

Include any items or activities you would use in your classroom.

You may include any activities you wish.


Remember, wiki’s are used for uploading materials and collaboration. When using the discussion board on your wiki page, you may need to create a new page for materials or “random thoughts” because of the information gathered. This needs to be a living, growing document.

While completing your project, please upload any documents, presentations or spreadsheets you wish.


3:30-4:00 In your wikispaces wiki, go to the other group’s work and look it over. After you have done that, go to the discussion tab and enter suggestions or thoughts about the project.
